Customer Reviews

Very easy to set up and figure out. I am a first time coffee bean grinding person but really like the new machines in some of the gas stations where the beans are ground fresh every cup. That’s what I was going for. I’m a dark roast lover, too. It took me a few tries but I set my machine to 10oz, 16s and hit the Bean Brew button and now I have my perfect tasting cup of coffee with that fresh, crisp coffee taste and great aroma. I hope this machine lasts awhile because if it keeps making coffee like this, it’ll be the best coffee make I’ve ever used and you can’t beat the price.

Customer Review: Amazon User

I purchased this after having 2 of a previous brand give out after 10 months of use. This has more features than the other brand. It is half the size. once it is set it is a one step start. So far I am pleased. It is noisy during grind phase but has a beep to let me know when the cycle is complete.

Customer Reviews

I bought this grind-and-brew coffee maker a couple of years ago, and from the very first morning it felt less like an appliance and more like a small enchanted creature living on my counter. Each dawn, before the sun has fully stretched its golden fingers across the kitchen, my noble little machine awakens. With a mighty whirrrrrr—loud enough to rattle the castle gates—it grinds the beans like a determined dragon guarding its treasure. Yes, it is noisy. There is no gentle woodland whisper here. When it grinds, it announces itself. If you’re hoping for silent sorcery, this is more “battle cry at sunrise.” But honestly? That bold roar is part of the charm. It means magic is happening. And oh, the magic. The aroma that follows is rich and comforting, like stepping into a cozy tavern after a long quest. Freshly ground beans brewed immediately into a warm, perfect pot—every time, as long as I uphold my end of the royal bargain. Now, here lies the cautionary tale. This noble machine is loyal—but it expects respect. Should you forget to empty the used grounds from the previous brew, or neglect to pour out yesterday’s remaining potion from the pot, it may stage a dramatic rebellion. And by rebellion, I mean… it will overflow. Spectacularly. This is not a flaw of the kingdom’s machinery; this is entirely the absent-minded wizard’s fault (that would be me). So heed this warning: dump the used grounds and empty the pot before starting anew, and peace shall reign. After years of faithful service, it still brews beautifully. Strong, fresh, flavorful coffee at the push of a button. Despite its enthusiastic volume and its intolerance for skipped steps, I would absolutely choose this trusty countertop companion again. If you seek convenience, fresh-ground flavor, and don’t mind a little morning fanfare, this grind-and-brew hero is well worth inviting into your castle. ☕✨

Customer Review: Amazon User

I just ordered this coffee maker as a replacement for an older model. So I guess this review is primarily about the older model. I have had it forever, I want to say 14+ years. Yes at lease fourteen beautiful coffee drinking years. I have LOVED the coffee maker and the quality of coffee it made. I will say initially there was a learning curb as I did not read my directions very well. The coffee shute did plug up and I had to switch to pre ground coffee. Once I learned that I had to remove all beans and remove the tray and lift the little door and use a knife and dig out all the compacted fine grinds. Boy did it ever work well after that. Of course there was a blinking light to clean the Shute but I ignored it until I was told how to do it. I also religiously used white vinegar to descale the maker every month and then run two cycles of water. I have well water. I also changed the water filter monthly. I think that is why I had the long beautiful life with my previous machine. The death happened last week when I tried to make coffee in the morning. I has cleaned it the day before. It ground beans perfectly then click click click no water. So with that I said goodbye to my beloved machine and ordered a newer model. I read very mixed reviews about this maker and similar models and I personally like a machine that holds a good amount of beans. I also really like the water filter. So here we are and the only thing I would change about the machine is I would magically make the warming plate a little hotter. I have noticed that the first cup is hot but not hot hot hot. I usually drink it fast and then my second cup it hot hot. I think the key to long life is to clean the machine regularly with a descaling agent (I like white vinegar) and changing the water filter. Oh and clean the Shute.UPDATE TO ABOVE REVIEW:I was very excited with the arrival of my new coffee maker. I used it two days and it was PERFECT. However the third, fourth and fifth time I encountered problems. The machine would grind the beans stop and then grind a second round of beans and then it would turn off. I then had to open and close the coffee grounds basket and select no grind and start the machine again. I tried cleaning the bean area and encountered the same problem. I tried to make four cups and the machine ground beans twice and when I checked the ground basket it was packed full of beans.I am so disappointed with this new machine I am returning it and I have found a new machine to replace it from a different company. I have always trusted the brand however in making any future small kitchen appliances I am going to go with another manufacturer.

4. Cuisinart DGB-30 Grind & Brew Coffee Maker

Customer Reviews

First week of use has been great. This machine makes a nice cup of coffee. Not that loud when it grinds the beans. Have had no issues with messy grinds or anything else previous reviews have whined about. Easy clean up. Easy to use, just remember to open and close the basket door after pressing the power button. One minor observation that will probably be addressed as the technology advances: none of these grind and brew coffee makers grind beans specific to the size of the selected cup of coffee, which is probably wasteful, although the taste of the coffee makes up for it.So far, it’s been great.

Customer Review: Amazon User

This is a good coffee maker and I decided to give it 5 stars, although if I could I would have given it 4.5.The coffee maker looks great and easily fits under my standard cabinets.Seeing as this does have a built in grinder, it does make noise, but it could be worse. But this is something to keep in mind if you are going to make coffee while others in the house are asleep. To me, the coffee tastes great. I read other reviews about weak coffee, but mine tastes perfect just on the medium setting, although I have good beans. My only complaints are the time it takes to make a cup, it’s not as fast as a Keurig, it’s not horribly slow, but it is slower than Keurigs I’ve used in the past.My biggest complaint is that the unit makes a lot of steam, I mean a lot. So I have to pull the coffee maker out in front of my cabinets as I don’t want that steam to collect under my cabinets and possibly damage them. I’m lucky I live in a dry climate and I usually only make a single cup each day. So it’s not a big deal, but it’s a minor inconvenience.

Customer Reviews

A fine coffee maker! We are thrilled with it, and it operates as designed. The controls aren’t hard to figure out, the instructions were good and it’s easy to keep clean. We’ve had it now for a month or so and haven’t noticed that the grinder needs to be cleaned out, but I’m sure that time will come the instructions, however, are pretty clear on how to do so and it doesn’t look like it’s hard. The grinder is noisy, but so what?? I think all grinders are noisy and it doesn’t go on for very long what I like best about the coffee pot is that the brew happens very quickly once the coffee is ground

Customer Review: Amazon User

This is the perfect coffee machine! I got this for my poker game because I needed a higher output than my espresso machine for the players and this thing was perfect! It grinds very well, I love the fact that the Bean compartment has a proper seal so it keeps it fresh, and it’s very easy to use.Great size, amazing taste and fresh strong coffee every time! The only weird thing I noticed is the pot it comes with does not have a detachable lid but besides that this thing is very clean and easy to use.

Customer Review: Amazon User

The BLACK+DECKER 12-Cup Mill and Brew Coffee Maker has quickly become my go-to daily coffee solution thanks to its thoughtful 2-in-1 grind-and-brew design and compact footprint. What stands out most is the convenience. Having a built-in grinder eliminates extra steps and equipment, and the grind quality is excellent—consistent and fresh, which directly translates into better-tasting coffee. The ability to adjust brew strength is a big plus, allowing me to tailor each pot to personal preference. Setup is straightforward, the water tank is easy to access and fill, and the overall design is sleek without taking up unnecessary counter space. For a grinder-equipped machine, it’s also relatively quiet, which is appreciated during early mornings. Everything about the user experience feels intuitive and well thought out.Pros:• True all-in-one grind and brew convenience• High-quality, consistent grind• Customizable brew strength• Easy setup and simple water refill• Sleek design with a small counter footprint• Quieter grind than expected for this categoryCons (minor but worth noting):• No audible alert when brewing is complete or when the unit powers off• If reheating without disabling the grinder, it will re-grind used grounds• Grounds basket can be a bit messy to clean, with some grounds ending up in the sinkDespite these minor usability quirks, the overall performance and convenience far outweigh them. This machine delivers great coffee, reliable performance, and excellent value, and I expect it to remain my primary coffee maker moving forward.Recommendation: Highly recommended for coffee drinkers who want fresh-ground flavor without extra equipment or counter clutter.

Customer Reviews

Easy to operate, makes a strong cup of coffee, uses less beans or grounds than are suggested in the directions. My wife loves it.

Customer Review: Amazon User

I’ve been using this coffee maker for 4 mornings straight and have had a perfect cup of coffee each time. The grinding process is easy and cleanup of the bean grinder a breeze. I’ve always bought Keurig or Cusinart and was usually dissapointed in a self grind model. I’ve never heard of this company but very glad that I took a chance and purchased their Grind and Brew. I was prepared to have to make a return but was pleasantly surprised the first time I operated it ! And being able to brew three different ways , grind your own beans , use already ground coffee , or Kcups , is really a great feature ! Unless it totally starts to malfunction this Airmsen is staying on my kitchen counter !

Customer Review: Amazon User

So this makes a very consistent brew which overall is its best quality. I was hoping to use it under the cabinet, but there are two problems. The water inlet is in the back on the unit which makes it impossible to fully tilt the pot as it hits the cabinets no matter how you attack it or pull it forward. Spinning the whole unit around 180deg is the only solution. The hopper on the grinder has a rubber seal to keep the lid on, unfortunately its very hard to get the lid off. My elderly mother couldn’t get it off with out my help so I cut it off and it works like a normal lid on a hopper. The pop out filter tray is very nice and simple to use. The interface is pretty ok with simple buttons and LEDs. The brewing cycle is very quiet, but it’s a normal burr grinder level of noise. I moved it to a non ideal location in the kitchen and keep using it because the coffee is perfect every time once it’s dialed in.

10. OXO Brew Conical Burr Grinder

OXO Brew Conical Burr Grinder with Stainless Steel Burrs, One-Touch Au

Note: This is a standalone burr grinder, not a grind-and-brew machine. However, for coffee purists who want maximum control over grind consistency and prefer a separate brewer, the OXO is arguably the best value burr grinder on the market. It’s included here as a premium upgrade option.

Key Features That Stand Out

  • ✓ Stainless steel conical burrs for uniform grind
  • ✓ 15 grind settings plus micro-adjustments
  • ✓ One-touch start with memory function
  • ✓ Easy-to-clean design (top burr removes)

Why We Recommend It

OXO engineered this grinder for consistency and ease of use. The grind amount is based on time, not arbitrary “cup” settings, giving you precise control. At under $100, it outperforms many grinders twice its price. It’s the perfect companion for a separate drip or pour-over brewer.

Best For

Coffee enthusiasts who already have a favorite brewer and want a dedicated, high-quality burr grinder without breaking the bank.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Exceptional grind consistency for the price
  • Time-based dosing allows precise control
  • Easy to clean and maintain
  • Quiet operation for a burr grinder
  • Attractive, compact design
Cons:
  • Grounds container doesn’t always lock securely
  • Bottom burr not removable for deep cleaning
  • Not a brew machine (requires separate brewer)

Customer Reviews

I’ve had blade grinders and this is my 3rd burr grinder. But this is the best by far! I’ve had it over a year now and is still fantastic. I use it almost everyday and it never fails. For me, the grind is very consistent. I don’t adjust the grind level very often but I recall it relatively easy to set the first time. The bin where the grounds fall is easy to remove and replace. The grinds are easier to pour out without them clinging to the side of the cheaper plastic bins. Most importantly, I like that the grind amount is precise. My other burr grinders had a very course and unrepeatable setting knob or slider. This makes it easy to adjust for 2 cups or 6 cups or whatever. The setting is based on # of seconds grinding, so for me, a 16oz cup requires 9s worth of grinding. I don’t like the ones set based on a “cup”. They don’t usually match my taste. This one lets me set things just the way I want and it does so with a very repeatable mechanism.

(I am an ex professional barista.)CONS:-The grounds container doesn’t lock into place and will sometimes vibrate out during grinding. This is the only serious flaw with the product, and I feel it’s a minor one. I’ve gone through many of the reviews and it seems that it’s simply a matter of construction inconsistency. Most people’s containers “click” into place; a minority do not. I was just unlucky enough to get one of the ones that don’t.-You can’t remove the bottom burr to clean it. They really did do their best to make this easy to clean and I appreciate that you don’t have to undo a bunch of microscopic screws just to clean your burrs, but I really wish I could remove BOTH burrs to give them a thorough wipe-down. It’s difficult to clean the one that’s stuck inside the grinder. The other lifts out easily by a cute little handle.PROS:-High quality, consistent grind. The brewing methods I use most all hover around the medium grind range, so I haven’t really tested the extremes of coarse and fine. Can’t speak to those. But as far as the medium ranges, it grinds beautifully and consistently. That’s what matters in the end, right?-The beans feed very well, even for single dosing. Never an issue.-As mentioned above, the ability to clean the grinder is taken into account in the construction. No need to delicately deconstruct the whole thing and keep track of a bunch of itty bitty screws and springs. The top part of the grinder and the top burr simply turn-and-lift out, and then turn-and-lock back into place. So nice.-It’s aesthetically pleasing and takes up little room on the counter. All the materials have a quality feel.-It isn’t super noisy. All grinders are gonna make noise, to be sure, but as far as grinders go, this one has a pretty gentle sound. I’ve definitely used my fair share of grinders that made me feel like my brain was going to vibrate out of my skull, and this one has a polite hum by comparison.-The price for this level of quality is unbeatable. I can’t even believe I paid less than one hundred dollars for this. Real talk, folks: these are steel conical burrs. Solid construction. 40+ grind settings. Did I mention steel conical burrs? I never thought I would own something like this for less than $250. You cannot beat this price point/quality intersection. You just can’t. This grinder is price-meets-quality king.USAGE:You’re working with three variables: time, grind, and amount. There are two popular approaches to working out your dose.Method 1: You leave ‘amount’ as the open variable. With this method, you dump all your beans in the hopper and store them there. You then adjust grind and time until you’re getting the right dose at the right grind level.Method 2: You leave ‘time’ as the open variable. With this method, you only deposit the amount of beans you plan to use for each dose, adjust the grind as needed, and let it take whatever amount of time it takes. You’re adjusting the amount and the grind, rather than adjusting the grind and the time. (This is called “single dosing.”)Go to any coffee forum, and you’ll be pages of debate about which of these methods is superior. Honestly, you should use the method that feels best for YOU.The reason I bring it up here is because people seem anxious that Method #2 will damage the burrs over time, since you run them all the way to empty every time you grind. Here’s my take: I use Method #2, because I feel that the beans start to taste stale if left in the hopper. (Everyone’s tastebuds are different; there’s no right or wrong.) This means that I let the burrs run until I hear the sound change from a low growl to a high pitched growl, which indicates that the burrs are grinding empty, and then I manually stop the grind.I honestly don’t see any issue with this, and I don’t feel any anxiety about it. Think about it: if you’re cleaning the burrs between bean swaps, you’re letting them run for several seconds on empty anyway. Even the manufacturer instructions tell you to do this when cleaning the burrs! The only difference here is that instead of intentionally running them on empty for several seconds to clean them, you’re running them on empty for one single second every day/dose. I’d never recommend doing that on a fine espresso setting, but as long as you’re in the medium-to-coarse range, I don’t see any possible ways the burrs could damage each other. There’s no way the burrs are touching at that distance, regardless of variables like heat expanding the metal and other things coffee nerds like to debate about.I hope this review was helpful. I’ll update in a year to let you know if this grinder held up through daily use.

Complete Buying Guide for Best Grind and Brews

Essential Factors We Consider

When choosing a grind and brew coffee maker, pay attention to the grinder type (burr vs. blade), brew capacity, grind settings, and ease of cleaning. Burr grinders provide more consistent grounds but are pricier, while blade grinders are more affordable but can produce uneven particles. Consider whether you need single-serve or carafe brewing, and look for programmable features if you want morning automation. Also, check the water reservoir size and whether the machine alerts you to maintenance needs like descaling. Always review the terms and conditions to understand warranty coverage and return policies before purchasing.

Budget Planning

Grind and brew machines range from under $100 for basic models to over $300 for premium ones with advanced features. Set a budget based on your must-have features: if you mainly brew single cups, a compact model under $150 may suffice; for family brewing, expect to spend $200+ for a 10-12 cup capacity with burr grinding. Remember to factor in long-term costs like replacement filters or descaling solutions. It’s also wise to compare prices across retailers and check for any promotional terms that might affect your purchase.

Final Thoughts

A quality grind and brew coffee maker is an investment in daily coffee happiness. It eliminates the need for separate appliances and ensures peak freshness by grinding beans just before brewing. While they require regular cleaning to perform optimally, the convenience and flavor improvement are well worth it for most coffee lovers. Be sure to read the terms and conditions of your purchase to understand warranty coverage and return policies, protecting your investment in the long run.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are grind and brew coffee makers worth it?

A: Yes, if you value fresh-ground coffee and convenience. They save counter space and ensure beans are ground right before brewing, maximizing flavor. However, they can be noisier and require more cleaning than standard brewers. Consider your daily routine and whether the all-in-one benefit outweighs the extra maintenance.

Q: How often should I clean my grind and brew machine?

A: Clean the grinder and brew chamber after each use to prevent oil buildup. Descaling every 1-3 months (depending on water hardness) is crucial for longevity. Refer to your user manual for specific instructions, and always follow the maintenance guidelines to avoid voiding the warranty.

Q: Can I use pre-ground coffee in a grind and brew machine?

A: Most models allow you to skip the grinder and use pre-ground coffee, which is handy if you want to decaffeinate or use a specific blend. Check your machine’s “grind-off” feature. This flexibility is great for households with diverse coffee preferences.

Q: What’s the difference between a burr and blade grinder?

A: Burr grinders crush beans between two surfaces for uniform grounds, ideal for balanced extraction. Blade grinders chop beans with a spinning blade, which can create uneven particles and affect flavor. Burr grinders are generally quieter and more adjustable, but blade grinders are more common in budget models.

Q: Do these machines work with soft water?

A: Yes, but soft water may require less frequent descaling. Always use filtered water if your tap water is heavily mineralized to prolong machine life. Review the product specifications for water quality recommendations and warranty details regarding water damage.
