Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “From the moment I took it out of the box, I was impressed by how simple it was to set up; the instructions are easy to decipher, and every part clicks easily into place, effortlessly. Taking it apart for cleaning is just as easy — no struggling, no complicated latches, just a straightforward design. The controls are clear, the functions are powerful, and it handles everything…chopping, slicing, shredding, etc. I love that I can go from prep to cleanup in minutes, which makes cooking that much more enjoyable. This Ninja is sturdy and no worries about it moving off your counter when using; the suction cups are more than adequate. If you’re looking for a reliable, easy-to-use/clean food processor, this Ninja is absolutely worth it!”

Customer Review: “I have to confess that I was planning on keeping my Cuisinart forever, and just replacing the plastic parts as they broke. I was totally sure that no other food processor could be as good as it…. and I was totally wrong. A plastic safety feature broke off 2 days before Thanksgiving and I panicked because I couldn’t find anyplace to get a new part in time. So I spent an hour or so reading reviews for other food processors and chose this one. I bought it from Amazon because they could deliver it the next day, whereas the closest store I could pick one up was 6 hours away. I am telling you this so you understand that this was a desperation purchase. But I could NOT be happier. The first thing I noticed was that the turning mechanism was NOT part of the base, so there was no hole in the bottom of the plastic bowl like I was used to. This means that when I turn it on, that initial surge wouldn’t make stuff drip out of that center hole and get all over the food processor. It also means that if you want to soak it when you are done, the water won’t be pouring out of that hole – you can fill the bowl totally up with water. The lid has a gasket so if you overfill the bowl, it all stays inside when you turn it on. The chute is SOOO nice – no more of the funky extra piece that my Cuisinart had that makes it VERY difficult to clean when you are done. When you use the disk, it is low enough that any vibrations are NOT going to reduce the life span of the bowl, but high enough for you to put a reasonable amount of stuff inside before needing to remove some to add more. When I made a smoothie with frozen strawberries, the machine did it absolutely effortlessly. The chopping blade is amazing – the amount of time it takes for this gadget to chop everything into beautiful tiny pieces is miniscule – I was still putting stuff in the top when I noticed how well everything was already chopped. It has suction cups on the bottom to hold it in place, which is also VERY nice, since my Cuisinart liked to take a tour of my countertops. All 3 accessories fit inside the food processor for storage (I don’t know if the dough one would fit in there as well, but I will never use that). There are just a few things that I would like to see improved. The main one is that when you are done, all the lights start flashing. If you have sensory issues like I do, you may want to think twice before buying this – it make my heart start racing and I can’t turn the thing off fast enough! I would like the chute to be wide enough that I could put a whole cucumber in it to be sliced. I would REALLY like another disk that could make thicker slices, and I totally understand that it wouldn’t fit inside for storage. And it is going to take some time to get used to the pusher. It fits in the chute SO well, that when I first opened up the box, I thought it wasn’t included – only to later realize that it was already on the pusher. And I am still having that trouble 2 weeks later – not realizing that it is there until I put something in the chute and nothing comes out – LOL. My Cuisinart’s pusher was white plastic, so it was obvious, unlike this one that is made of the same material as the rest of it. But in general, I am very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend it. Oh – and one more thing. The bowl is higher than I am used to, and I was having trouble getting all the tiny garlic pieces off the sides of it. What I did was fill the bowl with water and dump it into a strainer. Ta da – the bottom of the strainer was full of the garlic, which I could easily put into my wok!”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “The XL size is perfect for meal prep or cooking for more than one person, and the results are always consistent. The blades are extremely sharp, so everything comes out clean and even (and definitely handle them carefully when cleaning). It cuts through tough ingredients fast without turning things into mush.Cleanup is simple, the build quality feels solid, and it saves a ton of time. Overall, this has become one of the most-used appliances in my kitchen. If you cook regularly and want something powerful, versatile, and reliable, this Ninja is absolutely worth it.”

Customer Review: “I replaced my 30 year old KitchenAid food processor with this Ninja. It was a hard decision because the old thing STILL worked fine, but the plastic parts were literally cracking to pieces. The Ninja is much larger and I had to make more room in my cupboard. It is lighter in weight. The chopping blade is large and *really* sharp–be careful. This model does not come with the smaller processing bowl and blade, but I will purchase that separately. Here is what I like:Blades are very sharp and make short work of hard to chop things. Purees well too. It’s volume is large enough (12 cups) to not have to process many batches. It’s quieter and more powerful than my old one. It’s attractive with the smoky bowl and silver body. The suction cup feet keep it in place! The automated programs really do work! The safety button is on the lid, great idea and easy to use.The parts fit together perfectly with no finagling and the gaskets are tight.BPA free. What I dont like:It occupies a LOT of space in the cupboard and in the dishwasher. It does not come with a storage box for accessories, and you cannot store them inside the workbowl. The available accessories are limited, no whipping paddle nor citrus juicer. The instructions are only OK, a bit vague, especially about using the discs. The power cord is WAY too short. You have to use it right by the outlet. (Inconvenient for me.)Overall I am very pleased with the functionality and attractiveness. It was worth the money.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I finally had to replace my 25 + yo Cuisinart food processor due to the bowl wearing out. A replacement bowl was not available. The new one does not disappoint! Works great. Super strong motor.”

Customer Review: “We needed a new food processor to replace our broken down on. This unit does not disappoint. First thing I noticed when unpacking the machine is its weight. It feels super sturdy and stable. The second thing I noticed is how little noise the machine makes during use. Our old processor was a beast of a machine and sounded like one. This Cuisinart is scary quiet. Even scarier (in a good way) is how easily it cuts through everything. I know the blades are new and, therefore, still extremely sharp, but this unit feels like it will continue to process food easily for years to come before needed a blade replacement. The footprint it takes up on the counter top is very small (surface area smaller than a piece of 8×11 paper). Vertically, it can be a bit tall when using the large feeder top, but it doesn’t make it unsightly. It comes with a standard blade, two discs for slicing (thick and thin) and one disc for shredding. We made sangria for Thanksgiving, and slicing the pears and apples was breeze using this processor. I haven’t used the shredding disc yet, but I have no doubt it will make easy work of cheese, potatoes, carrots, etc. There is one thing I would highly recommend, and that is the storage container for the blade and discs. For three reasons: 1) First and foremost safety. These blades are super sharp, and the last thing you want is to slice your finger reaching for them. 2) The container will protect your blades from getting nicked. 3) All your blades and discs will be in one easy to find location. We are looking forward to using this unit more often, and hope it is as durable as we expect it to be.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I bought used in new condition. Everything looked absolutely new. I think the retail box was a little dinged, but everything inside was perfect. I used it for the first time to slice cabbage and shred carrots for slaw. Super fast and powerful and great results with very little wasted food.I wasn’t sure I needed the 14c capacity, but for high volume food like cabbage, it saved a lot of effort. I did two small cabbages before I had to empty the bowl. This is a week’s worth of salad starter for just me. You don’t need to be feeding an army to justify the large capacity. For veggies, I could clean with just a rinse. I expect it’ll be a little more effort to clean up from making sauces, but still probably easier than my old processor.”

Customer Review: “Reviews are so sketchy these days so it’s no wonder trying to find a quality product is anxiety inducing. People do not take the time to look something over before trying to assemble it. The user manual and instruction booklet are in the description in PDF format and are printable. I might add they are also quite detailed. This was a common complaint in the reviews, “no instructions”. It’s been a number of years since there were user manuals included with a product. We had a Cuisinart food processor in 2019 but was enticed away by the bells and whistles of the Ninja all in one and gave it away in favor of the Ninja. Big mistake, less than 8 months later our food processor bowl fell apart, after they sent us 4 replacement bowls that didn’t fit they replaced the entire system with the same one they said no longer existed, it was a 2 1/2 month nightmare. Five years later the replacement Ninja was no longer usable the blender jug and food processor bowl was cracked and leaked. We take care of our things and hand washed the bowl and all parts so the Ninja was not something we were about to re-purchase.We just got this food processor this morning, it is an upgrade from the one we bought in 2019. The bowl is large and will help us in our large batch cooking. Simple and straightforward, quiet and efficient. Contrary to the negative reviews about the bowl being difficult to seat and the lid being hard to put on and lock in place we found that it was an extreme exaggeration. If you look at the base of the machine and line the bowl up with the divots in the bowl you will not have an issue putting it on. The blade goes in after the bowl is seated, not in conjunction with it. The same with the lid, there is a specific way to line it up, and it will easily lock into place and unlock just as easily for that matter if you take the time to look it over. There is no need to wrestle with it. My wife made falafel in it this morning and it worked like a champ! Clean up was very easy as well. We cook 90% of our meals from scratch so we actually use our appliances daily. With our medium sized family of 5 we are always chopping, prepping and spend a great deal of time in the kitchen. I feel the quality and power is here and will keep up with our family’s needs. I also feel that this machine will last for years if it is well maintained.Take the time to look at things before you try to assemble them and most definitely before leaving a bad review. When others are looking at making a large purchase like this, hasty reviews are not helpful. With inflation and horrible products on the market that are junk it’s hard enough to make an informed decision without having to sort through negative things that are most often user error not the product itself.”

Customer Review: “The Ninja Kitchen System has been an amazing addition to my kitchen. The 72 oz. blender is incredibly powerful and handles smoothies, frozen fruit, and even ice with no problem at all. The 8-cup food processor bowl is also fantastic, it chops and mixes evenly, making meal prep so much faster and easier. I love how versatile it is. Having the blender, food processor, and individual cups all in one system saves space and does everything I need. The only small downside is that when using the individual cups, it’s pretty loud. It’s not a deal breaker for me because it works so well, but just something to be aware of.Overall, it’s a strong, reliable machine that delivers great results.”

Customer Review: “I absolutely love this Ninja Kitchen System! It’s very powerful and blends everything smoothly in seconds. I use it for smoothies, sauces, chopping vegetables, and even making dough — and it handles everything perfectly. The 8-cup food processor bowl is a great size for family meals. It’s easy to clean, sturdy, and feels high quality. The blades are super sharp, so be careful when washing. 7. Hamilton Beach 70585 Food Processor

Hamilton Beach Stack & Snap Food Processor & Vegetable Chopper: 14-Cup

Hamilton Beach’s Stack & Snap technology makes this one of the easiest food processors to assemble and use. It features a unique dual-bowl system with a large 14-cup bowl and a smaller 4-cup bowl, both of which nest for compact storage. The 500-watt motor is capable, and the wide feed chute fits whole foods like potatoes. It’s a brilliantly designed, user-friendly machine that’s perfect for large and small jobs alike.

  • ✓ Dual-bowl system (14-cup & 4-cup) that nests for storage
  • ✓ 500-watt motor with 3 speeds and pulse
  • ✓ Wide feed chute fits whole fruits and vegetables

Why We Recommend It

The effortless assembly is the star here—it truly is a “stack and snap.” The dual-bowl system is incredibly clever, letting you process a small amount without pulling out the big bowl, yet still having a massive capacity when you need it. For user-friendliness and smart design, it’s hard to beat.

Best For

Anyone who struggles with traditional food processor assembly or wants maximum flexibility in bowl sizes. It’s great for couples (using the small bowl) and for large-batch canning or meal prep (using the big bowl).

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Extremely easy, intuitive “stack and snap” assembly
  • Two bowl sizes (14-cup and 4-cup) offer great versatility
  • Bowls nest together for very compact storage
  • Wide feed chute minimizes pre-cutting
Cons:
  • The small 4-cup bowl is not as versatile as a standalone mini-chopper
  • Some users report the large bowl seal can be tricky to clean perfectly

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “Hamilton Beach is a SUPER underrated brand, I’ve owned many of their devices over the past 20 years. Everything I’ve bought of theirs has been for more affordable than other options so it seems like a “lower quality” brand, yet they consistently have great reviews. Every Hamilton Beach device I’ve owned has performed REALLY well, and also seem to last many years or regular use. If you make large batches of anything that needs to be chopped sliced or puréed, this machine is EXCELLENT, and is far less expensive than anything of its size. I also really like the wide feed shoot, which has been lacking in the past food processors/choppers I’ve owned. I really like that everything comes apart and is easy to wash in the dishwasher top rack. This machine is perfect for larger batches of processing for canning, prepping veg for soups & salads, making large batches of hummus, and unlike my previous food processor (which was smaller and had a diff style of life attachment) this doesn’t slosh up and leak when it’s only half full of liquids.”

Customer Review: “Love this food processor. It is easy to use and clean in the dishwasher top rack, has rubber suction cups on the bottom to hold it in place and works like a charm. I use it to chop up chicken, carrots, spinach, and puree sweet potatoes for my dog’s homemade food, have not tried it for anything else.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I love this thing. I use it multiple times per week super easy to use and clean. I did a lot of research before landing on this one. Because of my health, I have to make everything from scratch, and because of a hand injury, I needed the pieces to be light. I use my elbows to lock the lid in place. Basically, it makes chopping and slicing and shredding possible for me without hurting me further. I’m gentle with the pieces and make sure none of the plastic breaks off because I know it’s part of the safety feature to run properly. Other than that, this thing is a beast and works great. The sound is a little loud, but I have earplugs I use.”

Customer Review: “I cannot find any cons to this food processor. It slams right through the hazelnuts I roast myself and use in making homemade keto sugar-free “nutella” chocolate hazelnut spread. It is easy to put together. The buttons are self explanatory. The machine is designed for safety and efficiency. It will not work if you forget to install one of the safety components. But after you figure out what you left off, and put it in its place, you will be happy with this food processor. I have not yet tried the shredding blade but the S blade certainly works well. The motor is able to power through the hardest nuts I was able to find; made a pumpkin pie filling in seconds; pie crust is a BREEZE! Just be sure the container is dry when you add your flour to it.I have no issues with the noise of the motor. It IS a motor! Would you sacrifice efficiency for a quiet chainsaw? I think not. And I’m not saying it sounds like a chainsaw. Just think about who’s trying to take a nap before you turn this baby on. It’s a workhorse, so don’t tell it to be quiet.”

Complete Buying Guide for Food Processors

Essential Factors We Consider

Choosing the right food processor depends on your specific cooking habits. Capacity is the first consideration—a 7-9 cup bowl suits 1-3 people, while 12+ cups are better for families or batch cooking. Motor power (measured in watts) determines what it can handle; 600-800 watts is standard for home use, while 1000+ watts powers through frozen items and tough dough. Versatility comes from included blades and discs (S-blade for chopping, shredding/slicing discs, sometimes a dough blade). Ease of use and cleaning is crucial—look for simple assembly, a wide feed chute, and dishwasher-safe parts. Finally, consider special features like preset programs (Auto-iQ), safety locks, and storage solutions for accessories.

Budget Planning

Food processors range from under $50 for compact mini-choppers to over $200 for high-end, powerful models. Set a budget based on your needs. For under $100, you can get a reliable 9-11 cup model from Cuisinart or Hamilton Beach that covers all basic tasks. Between $100-$200, you’ll find more powerful motors, larger capacities, and smart features from Ninja and upgraded Cuisinart models. Over $200 is for commercial-grade power and ultimate versatility, often in all-in-one systems. Remember to factor in the cost of any additional discs or bowls you might want later.

Final Thoughts

A food processor is a long-term investment that can transform your time in the kitchen. The best one for you is the one you’ll actually use regularly. Don’t overbuy on capacity if you only cook for one, but don’t underestimate your needs if you love to entertain. Reliability and ease of cleaning are just as important as raw power. Based on our testing, the Ninja BN601 offers the best overall balance of power, intelligence, and value for most homes. For large families, the Ninja NF701 is unmatched. And for budget-conscious buyers, the Cuisinart DLC-8SBCYP1 delivers classic, dependable performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What’s the difference between a food processor and a blender?

A: While both can chop and puree, they’re designed for different jobs. Food processors use a wide, shallow bowl and a “s” blade or discs for chopping, slicing, shredding, and kneading dough. They excel with solids and dry ingredients. Blenders use a tall, narrow pitcher and a blade designed for pulverizing and liquefying, making them ideal for smoothies, soups, and wet purees. Some all-in-one systems, like the Ninja Kitchen System, offer both capabilities.

Q: Can a food processor replace a stand mixer?

A: For many tasks, yes! A food processor with a dough blade can mix and knead bread, pizza, and pastry dough effectively. It can also cream butter and sugar for cookies. However, a stand mixer offers more power for heavy doughs and attachments for whipping, pasta making, etc. A food processor is more versatile for prep work (chopping, slicing), while a stand mixer is specialized for baking and mixing.

Q: How do I choose the right capacity?

A: Consider your typical batch size. A 7-9 cup processor is perfect for chopping vegetables for a meal for 2-4, making a batch of pesto, or a small salsa. A 10-12 cup model handles larger batches—shredding cheese for a party, making double batches of cookie dough, or prepping veggies for a week. A 14+ cup is for serious meal prep, canning, or large families. It’s often better to size up if you cook often, as you can always process less.

Q: Are dishwasher-safe parts really worth it?

A: Absolutely. Cleaning a food processor by hand means navigating sharp blades and scrubbing crevices in the bowl and lid. Dishwasher-safe parts (bowl, lid, blades, discs) mean you can simply rinse off large debris and load everything into the dishwasher. This is a huge time-saver and makes regular use much more appealing. Always check the manufacturer’s instructions, as some motor bases and gaskets are hand-wash only.

Q: What safety features should I look for?

A>Modern food processors have several key safety features. A locking lid mechanism that must be fully engaged before the motor will run is essential. Some have a safety button on the lid that must be pressed. Look for suction cup feet to prevent the unit from “walking” across the counter during use. The bowl should lock securely onto the base. These features prevent accidental operation and keep the processor stable and safe.
