Customer Reviews
Customer Review: This is my husband’s favorite coffee so I buy these small bags for special occasions or gifts. Having bought them a few times I’m aware that the quantity is less than what you’d buy of other beans at the store. They arrive fairly quickly and the quality is always as expected. My husband is giddily delighted and sets aside quiet time to grind, brew, and appreciate the scent and flavor. His happiness is worth the price when our budget allows for it.
Customer Review: This is one of the best coffee I ever had. It’s aroma and the lack of bitterness is its highlights. I bought a pound of Jamaican Blue Mountain from another company and got both of them around the same time. They are both great coffee, however the aroma of this kona coffee is the reason why I liked this coffee better than compared to the JBM I got from a different company specially when brewed by a French Press. One of the most important things that makes a great cup of coffee is if it is freshly roasted. Both the kona and JBM were really good when I first opened the bag and noticed a decline in quality after a few days. I believe it is best to finish the whole bag within a week after you open it which is another reason why I preferred this kona as it comes in a 7oz bag, I would rather get two 7oz bag than one 14oz. I will order a pound of kona coffee from the same company that I ordered the JBM and compare it with the kona private reserve since this company roast your coffee the same day it is shipped out and I receive it in two business days. It also cost a lot less for $20 a pound. Will I order this kona private reserve again for $17.95 for 7oz? I’ll find out when I try the other brand, if it taste similar to the kona private reserve then I will probably start getting my kona coffee from the other roaster at a much lower cost, if not I will most likely be ordering the kona private reserve again. I think it’s worth the price for a coffee this good.

This will always be a tough sell for Americans who unfortunately had Starbucks as a yardstick for quality. Complete Buying Guide for Best Coffee Beans
Essential Factors We Consider
When choosing the best coffee beans, start with roast level: light roasts highlight origin flavors, medium roasts offer balance, and dark roasts provide boldness. Consider bean type—Arabica for smoothness, Robusta for caffeine and intensity. Origin matters too; single-origin beans offer unique regional tastes, while blends combine characteristics. Freshness is key: look for roast dates and buy whole beans for grinding just before brewing. Finally, check for certifications like organic or fair trade if ethics are important to you.
Budget Planning
Best coffee beans range from budget-friendly to premium. For everyday drinking, $15-$25 per pound offers good quality. Specialty beans can cost $30-$50+, but you’re paying for traceability and expert roasting. Consider how often you drink coffee—bulk purchases save money if you consume daily. Remember, investing in better beans can enhance your entire coffee experience, making it worth the extra cost.
Final Thoughts
Finding the best coffee beans is personal, but with this guide, you’re equipped to make a choice. Whether you prioritize flavor, ethics, or value, there’s a perfect bag out there. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different roasts and origins to discover your favorite. Happy brewing!
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What type of coffee bean is best for beginners?
A: For beginners, a medium roast Arabica bean is ideal. It’s smooth, less bitter, and showcases balanced flavors without being overwhelming. Try blends from Colombia or Brazil for a crowd-pleasing start.
Q: Should I buy whole bean or ground coffee?
A: Always opt for whole bean if possible. Grinding just before brewing preserves freshness and flavor, leading to a superior cup. Ground coffee is convenient but loses aroma quickly after opening.
Q: How long do coffee beans stay fresh?
A: Whole beans stay fresh for about 2-4 weeks after roasting if stored in an airtight container away from light and heat. Ground coffee is best used within 1-2 weeks. Always check the roast date on the bag.
Q: What’s the difference between Arabica and Robusta?
A: Arabica beans are smoother, sweeter, and more aromatic with less caffeine. Robusta beans are stronger, harsher, and have nearly double the caffeine. Robusta is often used in espresso blends for crema and intensity.
Q: How can I ensure my coffee beans are ethically sourced?
A>Look for certifications like Fair Trade, USDA Organic, or Rainforest Alliance. These ensure fair wages for farmers and environmentally sustainable practices. Brands often highlight these on packaging or websites.
